Summit's third graders teamed up with a local business to promote healthy eating in support of Juvenile Diabetes Awareness month. Summit's third grade class researched juvenile diabetes, creating posters, morning announcements, and wearing JDRF blue on Friday to show that they are informed about this disease and how it affects fellow Summit students. Doug Esch, a Summit parent, gave a presentation to the grade, speaking about his own experiences. Due to the generosity of Country Fresh Produce, third graders were invited to redeem coupons at the Beechmont store for a free apple to kick off their pledge to eat healthy. Mrs. Sulfsted, our principal and the 3rd grade teachers were present with balloons to cheer them on. A donation to the JDRF was also made.
