Anderson High School celebrates Homecoming

Anderson High School students, staff and alumni will decorate the school, and themselves, in orange and black the week of Sept. 25 in celebration of Homecoming.  
A complete schedule of events is listed below.
 
EVENT: SPIRIT WEEK
WHO: Anderson High School students and staff members
 
WHEN: Sept. 25-29
 
WHAT:   Students and staff are encouraged to dress according to specific themes:

*Jim Pope was a beloved Anderson High School custodian who was an avid supporter of all members of the Anderson community, Anderson football team and AHS Athletic Department.

EVENT: PEP RALLY 
WHO: Anderson High School students and staff
 
WHEN: Sept. 29, 1:45 p.m.-2:15 p.m.
 
WHAT:   Students and teachers will participate in games and a drumline battle; cheerleaders and the dance team will perform; and speeches will be given by football players and Chris Newton, athletic director.
 
WHERE: Anderson High School Stadium, 7560 Forest Road
(rain location is AHS gym)
 
 
EVENT: HOMECOMING PARADE
WHO: Anderson High School students and staff, community 
residents, Homecoming court, youth sports teams, fire departments
 
WHEN: Sept. 29, 5 p.m.
 
WHAT:   Dressed in orange and black, Anderson High School alumni, students, staff, local fire departments, youth sports teams and community members will create a parade including candy-tossing, bands and presentation of the Homecoming court. 
 
WHERE: The parade will begin at the intersection of Forest Road and Beechmont Avenue, then travel down to the south parking lot of Anderson High School.  The best parade view can be obtained from the sidewalks on Forest Road.
 
 
EVENT: HOMECOMING PARTY
WHO: Anderson High School students, staff, alumni, administrators and community members 
 
WHEN: Sept. 29, 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m.
 
WHAT:   After the parade, students, parents, staff and community members will enjoy performances by cheerleaders, live music, carnival games and inflatables.  Tickets for games and inflatables are 4 for $1 and will benefit the Memorial Scholarship Fund for Jim Pope, a beloved Anderson High School custodian who was an avid supporter of all members of the Anderson community, football team and Athletic Department. Food purchases will also be available from food trucks.

EVENT: HOMECOMING VARSITY FOOTBALL GAME (VS. LOVELAND) 
WHO: Anderson varsity football team, band, Homecoming Court, students, staff, 
community
 
WHEN: Sept. 29, 7 p.m.
 
WHAT:   The undefeated, state-ranked Anderson varsity football team will battle Loveland during the Redskins Homecoming game.  Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the gate.  At half-time, the Homecoming king and queen will be crowned.  The award-winning marching band will also perform its “Time Over Time” competition show at half-time.  Band and color guard alumni will also perform with students during pre-game, half-time and during the game.  Band and color guard alumni should arrive between 5 p.m.-5:45 p.m. and register to participate.

Editor's Note:  To utilize reserved parking and complimentary admission to the Homecoming game, media representatives should identify themselves to traffic conductors and ticket office employees.  
 
 
EVENT: HOMECOMING DANCE 
WHO: Anderson High School students
 
WHEN: Sept. 30, 8 p.m.-11:30 p.m. 
 
WHAT: The Redskins semiformal Homecoming dance will follow an “Under the Sea” theme. Tickets, which are $20 per ticket, will be sold online Sept. 25-29.  No tickets will be sold at the door. Students must bring their student ID and ticket to be admitted to the dance.
