Registration

Welcome to Forest Hills School District, a place where learning is a priority, friendliness abounds and students are the heart of the district! FHSD is enriched by its traditions and is highly supported by active and involved parents, community members and partnerships with local universities and businesses. 

PROCESS

Parents and legal guardians of students register students online (see below). Once a parent completes the online registration process, they should come to Central Office (7946 Beechmont Ave.) to provide required registration documents (see below).

Registration hours during the school year are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Summer registration hours are Tuesday and Thursdays between 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

Required Registration Documents

  • parent/guardian driver’s license
  • official birth certificate
  • custody papers (if applicable)
  • proof of residence (mortgage deed, rental/lease agreement)
  • current immunization records (if applicable)
  • ETR/IEP/504 reports/documents (if applicable)
  • FOR ALL-DAY KINDERGARTEN  REGISTRATION ONLY: $75 check for deposit (applied to tuition)

Kindergarten

Parents can register students for kindergarten in Forest Hills School District beginning Jan. 6.  Kindergarten registration is encouraged by March 1.

Once a parent completes the online registration process, they should attend a Kindergarten Round-Up event to provide required documents for registration: parent/guardian driver’s license, child’s current immunization records, child’s official birth certificate, custody papers (if applicable), and proof of residence (mortgage, deed, rental/lease agreement).

Round-Up events will be held Feb. 16 from 4 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and Feb. 17 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Parents need to only attend one Round-Up event.  Both events will occur at the student’s school of attendance. Find a child’s school of attendance

It is preferred that Round-Up events are parent-only events to help expedite the registration process and because students do not need to be present to complete the registration process.

Parents who cannot make the February Round-Up events should complete the online registration and then call Debbie Conover, registrar, at 231-3600 to make an appointment to provide the required documentation.

A $75 deposit (check) is also required for all-day kindergarten registration.  This deposit will be applied toward the program tuition.

FHSD recommends that children be five-years-old on or before August 1, 2017 to register for kindergarten.  However, for the 2017-18 school year only, students who are five-years-old by Sept. 30, 2017 may also enroll.

PRESCHOOL

Forest Hills School District fills open seats for preschool through an online, random lottery system. The lottery is now closed and the drawing will take place on March 6. Parents will be notified by telephone if they have been selected and, at that time, will be directed to register their student through the district’s online registration system. Parents have one week to complete the registration process and pay a tuition depost of $100. The district will maintain a waiting list for the remaining students who were not able to be placed in the program.

A $100 deposit is due at the time of registration in the form of check or cash. The deposit is applied toward the tuition cost of $1,800. The balance due can be paid in one payment of $1,700 or in four payments of $425 each. Payments are made online.

An additional academic fee of $40 applies to all students attending Forest Hills. Both payments can be made beginning August 1.

HEAD START

The Hamilton County Educational Service Center operates a Head Start program at Mercer Elementary for children ages three- to five-years old. The morning session operates from 8 a.m-11:30 a.m. and the afternoon session operates from 12:10 p.m.-3:40 p.m. The program is free to families who meet certain income guidelines.
