School year hours: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Appointments are recommended.
Summer hours: Tuesday and Thursdays between 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
Parents and legal guardians of students register students online. Once a parent completes the online registration process, they should come to Central Office (7946 Beechmont Ave.) to provide required registration documents (see below).
FHSD recommends that children be five-years-old on or before August 1, 2017 to register for kindergarten. However, for the 2017-18 school year only, students who are five-years-old by Sept. 30, 2017 may also enroll. A $75 deposit (check) is also required for all-day kindergarten registration. This deposit will be applied toward the program tuition.

Forest Hills School District fills open seats for preschool through an online, random lottery system. The lottery is now closed and the drawing will take place on March 6. Parents will be notified by telephone if they have been selected and, at that time, will be directed to register their student through the district’s online registration system. Parents have one week to complete the registration process and pay a tuition depost of $100. The district will maintain a waiting list for the remaining students who were not able to be placed in the program.
A $100 deposit is due at the time of registration in the form of check or cash. The deposit is applied toward the tuition cost of $1,800. The balance due can be paid in one payment of $1,700 or in four payments of $425 each. Payments are made online.
An additional academic fee of $40 applies to all students attending Forest Hills. Both payments can be made beginning August 1.
The Hamilton County Educational Service Center operates a Head Start program at Mercer Elementary for children ages three- to five-years old. The morning session operates from 8 a.m-11:30 a.m. and the afternoon session operates from 12:10 p.m.-3:40 p.m. The program is free to families who meet certain income guidelines.
