December Blog: December is the time to give back

The holidays are upon us! For many people, December is the season of giving. Forest Hills School District is grateful to be part of a community that generously supports our students to ensure that they have resources needed to be successful. While we look for opportunities to give back to the community year-round, it feels more meaningful this time of year.

Students and staff throughout the district collected more than 10,000 pounds of food during Forest Hills Foundation for Education’s  “All-In” food drive to stock pantry shelves before the holiday season. Contributions raised this month by students and staff will help fulfill wish lists for 1,000 local families in need through 9United’s Shop and Share event. Additionally, students collect presents to give to local children affected by HIV/AIDS, and others participate in a separate fundraiser for St. Vincent de Paul. It’s incredibly moving to see thousands of students and staff work together to benefit others in the community!

In addition to their broad volunteer efforts, the district’s performing arts students to present special performances during this time of year. This is another wonderful opportunity to give back to a community that has done so much for us.
