February Blog: Community partnerships ignite student passions
I frequently write about the exceptional learning opportunities and resources Forest Hills students enjoy inside our schools. But, the work to prepare a student for success goes well beyond the four walls of a classroom.
As a part of the Forest Hills strategic vision, the district continues to expand partnerships with local businesses and organizations. Through our Experienceship program, we connect students with community partners to gain valuable and real-world work experience. Forest Hills students can see what it’s like to work in healthcare, manufacturing, engineering, sports management, fine arts, law, or in a variety of other in-demand fields before they leave high school! We hope these internship-like opportunities will help students gain a clearer idea of the path they’d like to pursue after graduation.
More than 180 students have participated in this program thus far, and we are just getting started! There are currently more than two dozen companies and organizations offering over 250 different opportunities per term. This is another incredible example of why we are so grateful to serve in such a supportive and vibrant community.
Students who will be juniors or seniors in the next school year can start participating in the Experienceship program this summer. I invite you and your family to join us for an upcoming informational session that will feature many of our community partners on March 3, from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Anderson High School’s Titus Auditorium. You can RSVP for this event here.
Together, we can help all students pursue their passions and achieve personal success!
