2021-2022 FHSD Return to Learn Plans

We are looking forward to welcoming our students back to school during our Phase-In Days;  Thursday, August 19 (Last Names A-L only) and Friday, August 20 (Last Names M-Z only). We recognize that a key piece of information you need as a parent/guardian is about the health and safety expectations that we will put in place in regards to COVID-19. It remains Forest Hills School District’s top priority to keep students and staff safe, healthy while participating in face-to-face instruction throughout the 2021-22 school year.

During a special meeting on Wednesday, August 11, the FHSD Board of Education reviewed the most current recommendations from the Centers of Disease Control, Ohio Department of Health, and Hamilton County Public Health - all of which have strongly recommended universal masking, regardless of vaccination status, to continue to control the spread of COVID-19.

After careful consideration, the Board approved plans that at the start of the 2021-2022 school year, FHSD will require all Pre-K-6th Grade students and staff to wear masks in instructional settings. Masks are optional when in non-instructional settings, such as hallways, restrooms, recess, etc. Grades 7-12 students and staff are strongly encouraged to wear a mask, but will not be required to do so inside District facilities.  Unlike last year, the school district is not providing a universal virtual option for the 2021-22 school year.

Proof of vaccination will not be required and mask wearing is highly encouraged for all, regardless of vaccination status. Additionally, the CDC has issued an order that all students and staff are required to wear masks while on public transportation, including school transportation. On September 13, 2021, FHSD will review the most current health data in each school building and assess whether any adjustments are necessary. If, at any time prior to September 13, data indicates that imminent changes are necessary to protect the health of students and staff, the District will make immediate adjustments.

As always, frequent hand washing and hand sanitation will be encouraged throughout the day. Our maintenance and custodial staff will continue to clean and sanitize our classrooms and common areas regularly. Many of our buildings are also equipped with air filtration systems and we will also continue to use those to eliminate airborne germs.

As we continue to navigate this pandemic, we expect additional updates and we will be certain to communicate any changes to you directly. We will also maintain a COVID-19 page on our website with updates on protocols and reporting at

Please, remain vigilant and take care of yourselves and your families. Look for additional building-level return information from your student’s principal in the coming days. We look forward to seeing our students soon!
