Forest Hills community donates food, cleaning supplies to support tornado recovery
An Anderson High School guidance counselor and a Goshen teacher teamed up to support a community cleaning up after significant storm damage earlier this month.
An EF2 tornado touched down in Goshen Township on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. Emily Strausbaugh is a teacher in Goshen Community Schools and an AHS mom. She and Adrienne Black, a guidance counselor at AHS, worked together to lead an effort to gather food, cleaning supplies and other donations to support Goshen. Hundreds of people turned out on Friday, July 8 to make a difference.
According to the organizers, they filled three box trucks with food, water and supplies that they drove up to Goshen on Friday. The generous Forest Hills community also donated more than $1,000 in gift cards and volunteers received donations that will allow for a large donation to the Goshen Education Foundation.
Brian Bailey, Assistant Superintendent for Goshen Community Schools, thanked the volunteers and entire FHSD community in a tweet.
“Another one of those moments that amazed us more than words can describe,” Bailey said. “Unbelievable and so much appreciated.
