Forest Hills Voters Approve Operating Levy

On November 5th, voters in the Forest Hills School District approved a 4.7-mill operating levy request, which will fund day-to-day operations of the district and allow Forest Hills to maintain the excellent education and well-rounded student experience that distinguishes it as one of the best school districts in the state.

“On behalf of Forest Hills School District, we would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to district residents,” said Superintendent Scot Prebles. “We are grateful to reside in a community that greatly supports our students and staff. Thanks to the passage of Issue 14, Forest Hills will continue to provide the high-quality academic, social and emotional resources needed to prepare all students for success.”

According to unofficial results from the Board of Elections, voters passed the operating levy ballot issue for Forest Hills School District by 2,322 votes, with 28.70% voter turnout.

Funding from this levy will directly support students and classroom instruction. Forest Hills will continue to prioritize personalized learning opportunities, rigorous curriculum including advanced placement courses and global language, 21st-century technology in classrooms, target class sizes, and a wide array of extracurricular options, health and wellness resources.

Forest Hills also remains steadfast in its commitment to identify ongoing efficiencies and savings in the district’s budget.

“We are always looking for better and smarter ways of doing business in an effort to stretch every taxpayer dollar,” said Prebles. “Forest Hills will continue to seek opportunities to provide a great education at the most efficient cost possible to our taxpayers.”

With the passage of the 4.7-mill levy, Forest Hills residents will continue to pay a residential property tax rate less than the average of all Hamilton County school districts. The district will begin collections from the levy in January.
