It takes many volunteers and many hours to continue the events and programs that Summit PTA sponsors every year. Volunteering is also a great chance to get to know your child’s school and make new friends.
PTA sponsors many activities at Summit Elementary from during the school day enrichment like COSI, to after school opportunities like the Boys and Girls events. None of these events can happen without the support of our amazing parent and family community. If you are interested in getting involved at any level, from chairing an event to supporting a committee, please email PTA President, Ali Cumby.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
There are so many ways to get involved! Current opportunities are listed below! We are also looking for volunteers for our 3rd Grade Musical, 6th Grade Game Night, and 6th Grade Farewell (typically planned by a 5th Grade parent.) If you are interested in a specific opportunity or would like more information, please email PTA President, Ali Cumby.
Mother/Son Hoedown Dance
The Mother/Son Hoedown Dance is Friday, October 19 from 7-9:00 pm at Summit! Summit boys and their mom (or special adult) are invited to put on their boots, hats and flannels for an evening of dancing and games! Volunteers and donations are needed! Please click on the Sign Up Genius to help! Questions? Email Haley Wilson.
Summit Reads is one of many intervention programs used at Summit to help students become better readers. Summit Reads is a program that trains volunteers to work with children in a one-on-one setting during the school day. At Summit, the program is open to students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.
Please give some thought to volunteering for this worthwhile program. If you can spare 20-60 minutes a week to read with a few children, we’d love to have you as a Summit Reads Tutor. You can pick the day(s) and time(s) that work best for your schedule. Please email Mrs. Sanker for more information on becoming a tutor.
If you are interested in helping out in the Media Center this school year please email Amy Kisor for more information. A Sign Up Genius will be emailed out monthly so you may pick a time that best fits into your schedule each month. This is a really flexible and easy way to get involved at school. Shifts are from 9-11:00 am or 1-3:30 pm, Monday through Thursday; work all or any part of a shift.
Have you ever dreamed of opening ketchup packets on a daily basis? Do you like helping students learn the social graces of eating in a group setting? Then volunteering for the 2018-2019 Summit Elementary Cafeteria Crew is the job for you!
We are looking for some dedicated parent (or grandparent) volunteers to work in our school cafeteria during our kindergarten, first, and second grade lunch times. We are looking for volunteers who can commit to one (or possibly two) days a week for the entire year. On the day you volunteer, you would come to Summit from 11:10 am to 12:30 pm to help students with anything they need. For example, kindergarten students need help navigating the cafeteria line and finding their seat. You may have to help with opening things in their lunch. Or they may have a question you can help with. A staff member is always on duty with you. You are not responsible for any behavior management or issues related to lunch, payments etc.
if you are interested, please email Mrs. Sulfsted, our principal, at email@example.com. We will have a training in late August for those who volunteer. More details to come! Our crew from last year did a fantastic job, and had a great time.
