FHSD Earns National “Best Communities for Music Education” Designation
Forest Hills School District is once again a recipient of the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) recognition from The NAMM Foundation. The award celebrates school districts and individual schools across the country for their dedication to music education and their efforts for ensuring equal access to all students as part of a well-rounded education.
Recipients of the award were selected through a comprehensive application and review process that evaluates key aspects related to music education, such as funding, instructional time, participation rates, facilities and community support. All applications were independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a leading research and evaluation firm specializing in education and the arts, to ensure the program’s rigor and credibility.
“It is an honor to once again be selected as one of the Best Communities for Music Education,” said Superintendent Larry Hook. “This consistent recognition is a testament to the quality and dedication of our staff, the hard work and passion of our students, and the strong buy-in from our community to support the arts.”
FHSD provides diverse music education opportunities to students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Upon reaching fifth grade, students can pursue more in-depth musical experiences through band, choir or orchestra. These programs regularly put on high-quality performances that are enjoyed by families and community members. Students also have the opportunity to participate in musical theater, marching band and a variety of other co-curricular activities during their experience in FHSD.
