Nagel Capital Campaign
Our Story
Nagel Middle School has always been more than a building — it’s the heartbeat of our community. As the district’s only middle school, it connects six elementary schools and prepares nearly 1,100 students each year for two high schools. It’s where friendships form, futures take shape and community pride takes root.
Now, we have an opportunity to bring that same energy to our outdoor spaces — creating a facility that reflects the excellence, connection and belonging our students experience every day inside the building.

The Project
The Nagel Athletic Complex will be developed in multiple phases, transforming our current space into a first-class facility for students, families, and the entire Forest Hills community.
FHSD has committed to use tax dollars, collected through a permanent improvement levy approved by voters in 2023, to fund the installation of a turf field and resurface the existing track. To learn more about overall strategic capital planning efforts, you can visit our Ongoing Projects webpage here.
The capital campaign seeks to gather private and corporate donations to cover the cost of additional upgrades to the stadium.
Phase 1: District Investment
- District Commitment: Turf field and resurfaced track
Phase 2: Community Partnership & Investment
- Community Capital Campaign:
- 1,200-seat bleacher system
- Press box
- Scoreboard and sound system upgrades
- Upgraded concession area and restrooms
- Entryway structure with donor bricks and ticket booth
Phase 1 and 2 will give our students a safe, modern and inspiring space to compete and connect — a visible reflection of our shared investment in hope, belonging and excellence.
Your Impact
Public funds have made the project launch possible. Now, community generosity will bring it to life. Every gift, large or small, helps ensure that we are leaving a legacy for the next generation.
When we gather to cheer, celebrate and support one another, it will be on the field our community built — together. Leadership gifts from families and community partners will engage Phase 2 and define the next 25 years of student experience at Nagel.

A Vision For the Future
Take a look at additional renderings that help visualize different aspects of the project. These are all tentative drawings that could change over the course of the capital campaign. The renderings were produced by architectural and design firm SHP in January 2026.
Why Are the Upgrades Necessary?
For the past several years, FHSD maintenance crews and third-party lawn companies have struggled to maintain the existing grass field. Due to frequent usage by 1,100 students for school activities, four Nagel football teams each fall, four Nagel lacrosse teams each spring and community rentals for outside athletics, the field is in a regular state of dirt patches or muddy areas. In addition to not providing students ideal playing conditions, significant wear and tear like this can present safety concerns. The track has historically been a basic asphalt track, and the upgraded surface will provide community walkers, student-athletes and other visitors with an improved facility for running and walking.
By installing a turf field, the yearly maintenance and upkeep costs will be reduced and the entire community can benefit from a safe, high-quality field for a variety of activities.
