Arts

Anderson Mascot

Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking and verbal skill. Arts learning can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and teamwork skills. Therefore, Anderson High School offers students multiple opportunities to explore visual art, music and theatre!

Music

The pursuit of excellence through musical performance is an important part of growing into a well-rounded, confident, hard-working and happy individual.

Students in the award-winning "Pride of AHS" bands have the chance to express themselves musically as staff and instructors are fully committed to student success. AHS offers 15 band classes, from beginning guitar and chorus to music history and music theory. For all course descriptions, see the 9-12 Course Guide. Extracurricular band opportunities offered at AHS include marching band, concert band, honors wind ensemble, percussion and jazz band.

The award-winning Anderson High School orchestra program consists of symphony, philharmonic and chamber orchestras with approximately 100 students. For orchestra course descriptions, see the 9-12 Course Guide. The orchestras have performed both nationally and internationally in places such as Disney World, Carnegie Hall, Music Hall and the Bahamas and have collaborated with the Ohio University Orchestra, the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

The award-winning Anderson High School Vocal Arts Program provides the opportunity for vocal expression, enrichment and advancement in four choral classes: Anderson Singers, Women's Chorus, Men's Chorus and Honors Chamber Choir. For course descriptions, see the 9-12 Course Guide. The Anderson Vocal Arts has performed in many prestigious venues throughout Cincinnati and the University of Cincinnati - CCM, and occasionally tours New York City performing at Carnegie Hall and the cathedrals of St. John the Divine and St. Patrick's.
