FHSD Recognized for PBIS Excellence

Dec 9, 2025
Article cover that says PBIS Excellence - district recognition, all fhsd schools recognized with FHSD logo

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and the Ohio PBIS Network recently recognized all FHSD schools for their PBIS implementation. Having all schools receive distinctions is a strong testament to FHSD’s commitment to PBIS and creating positive school environments so that students can excel.

PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional and mental health. PBIS is not a curriculum or program, but rather an ongoing commitment that, when implemented well, can improve social, behavioral, emotional and academic outcomes for students.

All FHSD schools, including the Preschool, earned a bronze, silver or gold recognition for their PBIS programs. FHSD also received a district-level recognition of excellence. Ratings are determined by ODEW and showcase excellence in proactive measures to improve student behavior in all buildings.

FHSD is very proud of the work each individual school is doing to empower students to display appropriate behaviors so they can be contributing, successful members of society.

Learn more about PBIS work and other wellness topics on the Wellness section of the FHSD website. You can find information about the district’s PBIS work under the School-Based Supports tab and read more in the 2024-2025 PBIS Evaluation and Outcomes Report

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a framework that guides school teams in the selection, integration, and implementation of evidence-based practices for improving academic, social, and behavior outcomes for all students. PBIS is a research-based system that employs a positive approach to discipline. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS can reduce office referrals, in-school suspensions, and out-of-school suspensions, thereby increasing instructional time for students.
