FHSD Selected for “Best Communities for Music Education” National Recognition

Forest Hills School District has again been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding support and commitment to music education. The Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.
To earn the Best Communities designation, FHSD provided comprehensive responses to questions covering areas such as funding, graduation requirements, student participation in music classes, instructional time, facilities, program support, and community-based music initiatives. The information was verified by school administrators and evaluated by WolfBrown, a leading firm in arts education research.

“We are incredibly proud to be recognized as one of the Best Communities for Music Education,” said Superintendent Larry Hook. “This honor reflects the dedication of our teachers, the hard work and passion of our students and the strong commitment our community has to supporting the arts in education.”
FHSD offers a wide range of music courses for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The district’s strong band, choir and orchestra programs perform regularly and are well-received by the community. In addition, students can take part in musical theater, marching band and a variety of other co-curricular music activities.
The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants and its 15,000 member companies and individual professionals. The foundation advances active participation in music making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving, and public service programs.
