Anderson High School Recognized for Excellence in STEM Education

The Anderson High School science department is once again the recipient of the prestigious Governor’s Thomas Edison Awards for Excellence in STEM Education and Student Research. The Ohio Academy of Science selected 76 schools in the state to receive this award, granted for accomplishments during the 2024-2025 school year, recognizing the efforts of STEM educators for encouraging curiosity, innovation and creativity within students.
The criteria for earning this accolade is to conduct a local science fair with 12 or more students and have two or more of these students participate in the Regional Science Day. If no local science fair is conducted, then six or more students must participate in Regional Science Day. The second requirement is that students must participate in at least one more youth science opportunity beyond the classroom.
In earning this award, Anderson High School and its science department will receive a Governor’s Award Certificate. Additionally, all the teachers within the science department will receive a complementary membership to The Ohio Academy of Science.
The Ohio Academy of Science initiated this educational partnership program in cooperation with The Office of Technology Investments and The Ohio Department of Development to recognize schools and teachers for excellence in STEM education and scientific student research.
