FHSD Elementary and Middle Schools Earn Top Rankings in Ohio
U.S. News & World Report has placed all six FHSD elementary schools and Nagel Middle School in the top 10% of K-8 schools in Ohio. The organization rated Nagel in the top 8% out of more than 2,400 middle schools listed. FHSD’s elementary schools, which include Ayer, Maddux, Mercer, Sherwood, Summit and Wilson, placed in the top 10% out of nearly 3,000 listed elementary schools in Ohio.
These high rankings come just weeks after FHSD received 4.5 stars on the Ohio State Report Card and an overall grade of A on Niche, which also gave our teachers a grade of A+.
To determine exact ratings, U.S. News & World Report analyzes state assessments in mathematics and reading/language arts. Half of its formula assessed the scores themselves and the other half incorporated the test results in the context of socioeconomic demographics, meaning that top-rated schools from U.S. News & World Report are high-achieving and have succeeded at educating all students.
Anderson and Turpin High Schools were both rated by U.S. News earlier this year when the organization released its separate report for high schools. Both Anderson and Turpin placed in the top 5% out of more than 900 schools listed in Ohio. You can read more about Anderson’s rating and Turpin’s rating on their websites.
