Learning, Collaboration, Community: Register for FHSD Parent Academy Nov. 13
Learning, Collaboration, Community: Register for FHSD Parent Academy Nov. 13
After a very successful opening night earlier this month, FHSD hosts the second installment of our 25-26 Parent Academy series! The next event will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2025 and you can explore the available topics and register for the evening right now.
The FHSD Teaching and Learning Team used feedback from people who attended previous Parent Academy evenings to guide the topics and programming being offered during the November event. Some of the sessions include a college credit plus information session, bullying prevention and response (hosted by FHSD staff representing ALL grade levels), staying organized with Google tools and much more!
Parent Academy Night will be held at Nagel Middle School from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13 and we hope you will be able to attend! Thank you to the Forest Hills Foundation for Education for once again sponsoring this educational series, allowing us to provide a light meal and childcare to families. The November Parent Academy includes TWO featured presentations from our friends at Beech Acres Parenting Center.
- Technology in Our Lives Today (Grades 3-12): This workshop offers practical tips on managing screen time effectively, encouraging healthy technology habits, fostering honest conversations with children about their digital experience and helping families find a healthy balance with technology.
- Tiny Tech—Navigating Screens with Little Ones (Grades K-2): This session will help parents understand and address important technology and digital issues, with a specific focus for younger students in grades K-2.
During the event, FHSD Village Connections will host a session to help families of students with special needs understand the OCALI LifeSkills for Adulthood Framework (OLAF). This is a comprehensive tool designed to equip youth with essential skills necessary for navigating adulthood. This framework is adaptable, allowing users to tailor it to the unique strengths and needs of each youth who they are using the tool with, no matter what their age is!
Any questions can be directed to Bob Buck, Director of Elementary Teaching and Learning, at bobbuck@foresthills.edu. The final parent academy night, which will be updated with new session topics, is scheduled for February 19.
