The following messages were shared in an email with Forest Hills School District parents, guardians and staff on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Superintendent Larry Hook announced his resignation, which will occur at the end of the school year, at the Board of Education Regular Meeting that took place on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Statement from Superintendent Larry Hook

It is with a mixture of emotions that I wish to tender my resignation, effective at the end of the day on July 31, 2026. I have spent the last 36 years of my life in service to the students, staff and 4 different communities as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and as superintendent. But now, after 36 years, it is time for me to move on to another chapter, like spending more time with my family and looking at retirement.

It has been my honor to serve the Forest Hills School District for the past 3 ½ to 4 years. Like most districts, we have worked together on the challenges that we have faced and together we have worked on the many successes of our district.

I am proud of the staff we have assembled and organized. We have the very best administrators, teachers and staff members. You all have been an inspiration to me as we have worked together to educate the next generation of students who will become our future leaders.

Everyone has rolled up their sleeves in providing the best educational experience for our students. Our performance index on the state report card, in my opinion, is one of the most important indicators of our academic success. It measures how well we have done on all state tests annually. We have continued to improve in this area each year over the past 3 years, which is not easy, especially for a high performing district like Forest Hills. I am proud of all 9 of our buildings that continue to deliver excellence every single day.

I am also proud to have been heavily involved with a great group of people in passing one of the most important levies in recent history in 2023, when we passed the 6.9 mill combination levy which included 1.5 mills for permanent improvements. This has allowed us to be able to make the necessary capital improvements, as well as stabilizing our district finances for operations.

In closing, I would like to extend my best wishes and support to all of our students, staff, school board and community.

Statement from the FHSD Board of Education

As many of you know, at the Board’s February 18th meeting, Superintendent Larry Hook submitted his resignation to the Board effective July 31, 2026.

We thank you Mr. Hook, for your 36 years of dedicated service to children and communities across Southwest Ohio, and especially for the four years you have spent here at Forest Hills. Your leadership has been instrumental in organizing and empowering an exceptional team of administrators and staff who consistently perform at the highest levels. Our students are the daily beneficiaries of the energy, commitment, and professionalism your staff brings to their work. Our district continues to be a high-performing district, and we are well-positioned to continue striving for excellence in all that we do.

We are also deeply grateful for your leadership during the successful 2023 levy campaign, which secured critical resources for our district and addressed many longstanding facilities’ needs. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the Forest Hills School District. We sincerely thank you for your service and wish you the very best in all your future endeavors.
