Anderson, Turpin Receive Gold Distinction on 2025 AP School Honor Roll
College Board announced that both Anderson and Turpin High Schools have been named to the 2025 AP School Honor Roll, earning Gold distinction. This recognition honors schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening participation during the 2024-2025 school year.
Earning gold distinction is a testament to the dedication and talent of FHSD’s high school students and staff. Out of more than 16,000 eligible schools, fewer than 6,000 (or 36%) earned a place on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll. Anderson and Turpin ranked in the top 15% of eligible schools.
Schools can earn recognition on the AP School Honor Roll annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit and maximizing college readiness. Of the graduating 12th graders, at least 40% must have taken at least one AP exam during high school and at least 25% must have scored a 3 or better on at least one AP exam. Additionally, 2% or more of the graduating class must have taken five or more AP exams during high school with at least one taking place in 9th or 10th grade, spreading AP experience across grades rather than feeling disproportionate pressure in any single year.
During the 2024-2025 school year, Anderson and Turpin offered nearly 30 AP courses. Research shows that students who take AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college and graduate on time, beginning college with an accelerated path to graduation in higher education and boosted confidence for success. Regardless of exam outcomes, students who participate in AP coursework receive early exposure to college-level work and contribute to a college-going school culture.
