Celebrating FHSD's September Seeds of Inspiration

Oct 13, 2026
article cover with Seeds of Inspiration logo and text that says "September Honorees"

Seeds of Inspiration is FHSD’s staff recognition program that celebrates the people whose creativity, commitment and care helps our students grow and thrive. Like seeds that grow into something greater, these staff members inspire others, strengthen our schools and help create opportunities for students and colleagues to thrive.

Three staff members are honored each month, one for each of our three categories: culture builder, innovator and student champion.

The Culture Builder helps make FHSD a better place with their positive attitude, strong relationships and commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment.

The Innovator thinks creatively, challenges the status quo and finds new ways to make a positive impact on students, colleagues or the school community.

The Student Champion consistently goes above and beyond to support students and help them feel valued, understood and empowered to succeed.

Learn more about this program on the Seeds of Inspiration webpage.

Corey Forsee - Culture Builder

Head Custodian at Ayer Elementary, Corey Forsee cultivates strong connections with staff and students alike. The individual who nominated him for Seeds of Inspiration: Culture Builder particularly highlighted an ongoing game of “tag” that he and a student started, which has evolved to include multiple other students. They often go home with a funny story about something that Mr. Corey said or did. “He goes above and beyond to bring joy to [my daughter’s day], and I imagine that there are many other parents who have a similar experience with him,” wrote his nominator. Taking extra time and effort to build positive relationships with students is what the Seeds of Inspiration: Culture Builder is all about!

James Glaser - Innovator

James Glaser is a science teacher at Turpin High School who pushes his students to think outside the box. He encourages students to participate in science fairs, showcase their work at the elementary schools and even helps them submit grants to the Forest Hills Foundation for Education to enhance their learning experience in his classroom. He has also been teaching college level engineering courses to give students even more opportunities to learn and grow. His nominator wrote: “Mr. Glaser is encouraging and supportive of students gaining experiences outside of Turpin’s classroom… Last year my son’s project placed first at GE’s Advanced Manufacturing Day event and he gives Mr. Glaser credit for his success because of the skills he developed in his classes with designing and building.” Mr. Glaser’s commitment to helping students excel through different tools and outlets is what makes him September’s Seeds of Inspiration: Innovator.

Alex Liston - Student Champion

ELA teacher Alex Liston develops strong relationships with her students at Nagel Middle School. Ms. Liston’s nominator shared, “Over the past 12 months, I have personally witnessed my daughter’s confidence grow, and Alex’s positive influence continues even as my daughter has moved into a new school year.” Ms. Liston’s commitment to compassion, empathy and making students feel seen and valued is what makes her connections so authentic. Genuinely believing in students and communicating that belief through encouragement and empowerment, she impacts Nagel students beyond the classroom and long after they leave. Her dedication to students is what makes Ms. Liston the September Seeds of Inspiration: Student Champion.
