Calling All Drivers! FHSD Hosts Drive-a-Bus Recruiting Event on July 25
Test Drive Your Future with FHSD!
Forest Hills School District is once again hosting a Drive-a-Bus Day recruitment event to give interested community members the chance to get behind the wheel of a school bus and recruit passionate new team members ahead of the 2026-2027 school year. This event allows people who might be interested in a career as a school bus driver to see what it is like to handle a larger vehicle and get a better idea of the day-to-day job before submitting an application.
“This event is ideal for anyone who has considered a fulfilling career as a bus driver, but might be a little nervous about driving a school bus,” FHSD Director of Business Operations John Eckert said. “Our licensed drivers will be on hand to explain what a day on the job is like and to answer any questions people might have about driving a school bus. FHSD offers a fantastic, paid training program that supports new hires every step of the way and gives them all of the tools they need to be successful and safe drivers on the road.”
The event will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026 in the parking lot of Nagel Middle School, 1500 Nagel Road, Cincinnati, OH 45255. Interested applicants can stop by any time between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. to take a test drive under the guidance of an experienced FHSD bus driver. A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is not required to test drive a bus, and paid training is available to accepted applicants. Guests can register at the event and should bring a valid driver's license. All participants will test drive the bus with a licensed driver on board.
“Our bus drivers are able to make a positive impact in the lives of students each and every day,” Richard Porter, FHSD Transportation Supervisor, said. “If you’re interested in a fulfilling career where you’ll be surrounded by a professional, hard-working team of individuals, FHSD is the place for you.”
FHSD, like school districts across the country, has been navigating an ongoing shortage of bus drivers for the past several years. This district hopes this event will help address those staffing challenges while also shining a spotlight on the truly important work of school bus drivers and monitors.
