District Natatorium Ready to Reopen
The following statement was shared with staff and families of Nagel Middle School, Anderson High School and Turpin High School on Friday, October 16, 2026 at approximately 11:40 a.m. The message provides information about the successful cleaning efforts of the district natatorium at Turpin High School, which is utilized by the swim and dive programs at these three schools.
Earlier this semester, I shared with you that the district natatorium at Turpin High School required professional cleaning, sanitization and remediation after the discovery of unusually high humidity levels and what appeared to be microbial growth on certain portions of the walls and ceiling.
I am pleased to let you know that the third-party company handling this project has completed its work ahead of schedule, and our team will soon finish preparing the pool facility to reopen. As I stated previously, one of our most important priorities as a school district is to ensure the health and safety of students, staff and visitors in our schools. Our administrative team was closely involved in ensuring the work was completed thoroughly and carefully and, after the remediation was completed, a separate company conducted air quality tests in the space that indicated results within normal levels.
We expect the pool to officially reopen on Monday, October 19 for use by our Nagel, Anderson and Turpin aquatic programs.
As a reminder, the district natatorium operates on an entirely separate air circulation system, which does not connect to any other areas of Turpin High School. Preliminary testing conducted outside of the immediate pool area after the issues were originally discovered indicated that air quality levels were within normal standards, and the natatorium has been closed to students, staff and visitors for the duration of the remediation project.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we responded to this unexpected situation and worked to resolve the issues as quickly as possible, while also maintaining our high standards for health and safety in our school facilities.
Sincerely,
Suzanna Davis
Superintendent
