Forest Hills School District is pleased to announce that Turpin High School is a 2025-2026 school year recipient of the Governor’s Thomas Edison Awards for Excellence in STEM Education and Student Research. The Ohio Academy of Science selected 77 schools in the state to receive this award for fostering student interest in STEM research.

As a result of earning this accolade, the Turpin science department will receive a special Governor’s Award certificate, and each teacher will receive a complementary membership to The Ohio Academy of Science. This educational award is initiated by The Ohio Academy of Science in partnership with The Office of Technology Investments, The Ohio Department of Development.

The criteria for earning this accolade includes conducting a local science fair with 12 or more students and having two or more of those students participate in the Regional Science Day. If no local science fair is conducted, then at least six students must participate in the Regional Science Day. Qualifying schools must also have students participate in at least one more youth science opportunity beyond the classroom.
